Angry Metal Guy
Alright! After pissing on your days by reminding you that shitty bands exist, I took the slave whip in hand and forced Steel Druhm to puke out 10 songs he really liked this year. Now the process has fallen to me, and I regret it. It’s not easy coming up with the 10 best songs from the year, and I will inevitably miss some. But I soldiered on the Angry Metal Champ I am and have produced this list of the year’s 10 best metal songs. Please, enjoy!

Angry Metal Guy
Crimfall // The Writ of Sword

One of the things that one can never take into account when one is a music reviewer is the fact that one receives records and must render judgment in a short amount of time. Especially as a “soulless blog,” production of material sometimes happens in a week. In a sense, every review you read from a label who doesn’t trust this Angry Metal Guy is being done “split second” as opposed to having time to let a record ripen. Such was definitely the case with Crimfall‘s first record As the Path Unfolds… which, while I enjoyed it, didn’t strike me as anything more than just an enjoyable record. However, here I am two years later listening to it regularly and really loving it. If I would score the record today I would give it a 4.5 and I would encourage you all to buy it (buy it, seriously, it’s great). Continue reading

Angry Metal Guy
Life has been busy for this Angry Metal Guy lately, and therefore not as much music listening has been happening as I would like. However, I’ve been rockin’ out to some stuff and some of the stuff on here will also show what I’ll be reviewing in the upcoming weeks.
I just want to say that things have been going really well here. I’ve been consistently getting a flow of visitors, and I hope that these things continue picking up. It seems like I’m getting lots of Germans on here (Wie gehts!?), and I hope that I can continue getting a worldwide audience. That’s the goal—appeal to everyone who can read it (and even those who can’t, thanks to everyone who translates my posts in Google).
Weekly Recommendation: Watch for the new Vader record, I was fucking blown away. More info coming soon, but let’s just say it’s everything you’re looking for in death metal: balls-to-the-wall, short and sweet and groovy as hell. Will not disappoint.
Fleshgod Apocalypse – Oracles
Vader – Necropolis
Fen – The Malediction Fields
Sonata Arctica – The Days of Grays
Amorphis – Skyforger
Æthereal – Through Inhuman Eyes
Cobalt – Gin
Burial Ritual – Tower of Silence
Behemoth – Evangelion
Suidakra – Crógacht
Crimfall – As the Path Unfolds…
Born Under Sirius – Born Under Sirius
Luna Mortis – The Absence
Anathema – Hindsight
Shining – VI/Klagopsalmer
Sigh – Hangman’s Hymn
