AMG’s Unsigned Band Rodeo: Adrift for Days – A Sleepless Grey

AMG’s Unsigned Band Rodeo: Adrift for Days – A Sleepless Grey

“After several years of self-righteous elitism where we largely overlooked unsigned acts, it’s high time we make amends. And so we’re bringing AMGs Unsigned Band Rodeo back from the dustbins of history with a fresh paint job and a butt-load of new reviewers! Every other month we will pluck a band from metallic obscurity, review the holy Bejesus out of them and leave them to the mercy of you, the fickle masses. At year’s end we will crown the best in show and shower them with accolades, cheap beer and day old sushi. Now that you know the score, welcome to the Rodeo, mofos!” Aussie doom-drone makes for a wild ride.

AMG’s Unsigned Band Rodeo: Canvas Black – Destructive Herd Mentality

AMG’s Unsigned Band Rodeo: Canvas Black – Destructive Herd Mentality

“Back in the primordial days of this here blog, we attempted something called “AMG’s Unsigned Band Rodeo.” The basic idea was to select a bunch of unsigned bands and give them the collective review treatment to find the most worthy buried gems. It was our humble effort to remind folks that the metal underground is still an important part of the world of metal. After several years of self-righteous elitism where we largely overlooked unsigned acts, it’s high time we make amends.” Today, we ride (and review).

Record(s) o’ the Month – April 2013

Record(s) o’ the Month – April 2013

April has not been a disappointing month. In fact, April has seen our highest scores yet of 2013 as things begin to ramp up. And that’s good because sweet jeebus this year has been looking pretty mediocre-to-bad so far. However, something not really expected, is that this month it wasn’t Amorphis or Ghost or any of the other big names that really rocked our worlds. Instead the world rockin’ came from less expected places on the spectrum. Following here…

Angry Metal Guy’s Unsigned Band Rodeo: Witch Ripper – Witch Ripper

Angry Metal Guy’s Unsigned Band Rodeo: Witch Ripper – Witch Ripper

In our new monthly feature, which will show up here on the 15th of every month and run over the next few days, I (Angry Metal Guy) will select 5 bands at random (usually those who have followed my directions and have bandcamp accounts) to get blurbed by every member of the AMG staff. The idea is to do at least a bit of our part to point out that the metal underground is still an important part of the world of metal. While we simply don’t have the manpower to produce regular reviews of unsigned bands, this is my attempt at a minor mea culpa if nothing else. So enjoy Angry Metal Guy’s Unsigned Band Rodeo and our fifth and final entry: Witch Ripper!
