Our scribe Alex never says something simply when he can say it philosophically. Even by his lofty stands, this here review of the new Swans is crushed under the weight of fancy ass cocktail party words. Grab the thesaurus and jump right in!

Things You Might Have Missed 2012: Oceans of Time – Faces
Even the mighty Steel Druhm needs help sometimes and without the help of you, the loyal AMG readers, he would have missed out on this little power-prog gem. Steel Druhm hates being helped!!
The Contortionist – Intrinsic Review
If Anathema, Obscura and Cynic got stuck in an elevator, What would happen? Alex attempts to answer this and other existential questions as best he can while reviewing the new opus from The Contortionist. Is it progressive? Is it metalcore? Is there enough air in that damn elevator??? Read on.
Loch Vostok – V: The Doctrine Decoded Review
So last year (that’d be 2011 for everyone reading this review in 2013 and forward) I discovered Loch Vostok’s record Dystopium a few months after it was released and did a Things You Might Have Missed entry about it. But given that it was last year, I was surprised when I saw that the fecund Teddy Möller and crew had already produced a new record and that it was sitting in my inbox. Now, granted, I didn’t get to it nearly quickly enough (since it’s already out), but I thought I’d drop in and let you know that a) it’s out and b) what I think of it. I like it, but not as much as Dystopium. There, now you don’t need to read any further!
Sabbath Assembly – Ye Are Gods Review
Steel Druhm keeps getting the weirdo hippie albums and nobody knows why! Sabbath Assembly is the strangest yet and featured members of Hammers of Misfortune performing eerie, psychedelic church music designed to raise Satan and bring about the apocalypse. And you thought church was boring!
Threshold – March of Progress Review
Threshold is the 800 lb. gorilla of prog-power and after a five year hiatus, they’re back to kick Steel Druhm’s ass, smash cars and eat tons of ape cake.
The Faceless – Autotheism Review
The esteemed professor D. Grover the XIIIth has graced us with the findings of his most recent adventure of discovery and scientific inquiry. Here is his account of the harrowing The Faceless record.
Khonsu – Anomalia Review
Keep of Kalessin mainman’s brother releases his own project. Are they truly “bonded by blood”? [YOU’RE FIRED! – AMG]
Things You Might Have Missed 2010: Dofka – Humanity Bleak
When we say we missed this release, we mean we REALLY missed it…by years!
Ne Obliviscaris – Portal Of I Review
Happy Metal Guy probably needs another colder shower to deal with the uncomfortable levels of joy he’s getting from this record.
