“November is just around the corner, but before thoughts turn to turkey and giving thanks, we should probably address the elephant in the room. That pachyderm is the Record(s) o’ the Month for August (2022). Why would this sunny summer installment be so late?” Click HERE to find out.
“The summer swelters and bakes and tensions boil over at AMG HQ. There’s been an unusually high number of arguments and shouting matches over the proper Record o’ the Month for June. The resulting clamor has disrupted the orderly working environment we strive to maintain through fear and abject brutality.” Sun’s out, manbun’s out.
“As Summer begins in earnest in sunny, ever-friendly New York, it’s a good time to look back on the Record(s) o’ the Month from Spring. Yes, we must look way back to the month of May, where the metal is now a bit olde.” Tardiness is a human construct.
“There appears to be some lingering confusion relating to the March installment of Record(s) o’ the Month. It was intended as a semi-subtle April Fools gag while also allowing AMG Himself to opine on a few albums he felt strongly about. Now we must focus on the recent past (i.e. April).” Long game, short board.
One of the problems with the Record(s) o’ the Month post is that I, apparently, cannot escape the glass cage of emotion that has been my life for a few years. Unfortunately, said glass cage doesn’t have an internet connection and that makes it difficult to keep up with everything. In reality, Record o’ the Month posts take a lot of work. So, I’m here to fix that! March is hardly done and I’m posting the Record(s) o’ the Month!
The Record(s) o’ the Month for February are here to be weighed, measured, and judged. We don’t see the point though, as we already did all that scut-work for you. Enjoy the rotten fruits of our labor.
“New year, same late Record(s) o’ the Month bullshit. And we don’t even have some lame-ass excuse this time, as there was no doubt which album would be awarded Best in Show this month.” Can’t stop the Wildersteal.
“October and November can, without a doubt, be said to have saved 2021 for me. After last month’s pile of elite records, it was hard to imagine that November could be better. But two big things happened in November: 1) I successfully defended my PhD thesis, thus finally making me Dr. Angry Metal Guy; and 2) the rest of the big releases for 2021 dropped hard, fast, and heavy.” How to choose from this bumper crop?
October was a four-record month. And yet there’s still plenty of room to complain in the comments section because, damn, it was a good month.
