We’re now into July! Impressive as it is, this year has been one hell of a year: like the year 2011 was supposed to have been but really, really wasn’t. On a personal note, I can say that I wasn’t expecting 2012 to be good at all. However, there haven’t even really been any major […]

Record(s) o’ the Month – June 2012
Last month I debuted a new Record o’ the Month format, and I thought it was pretty good. With a bit of input from the folks here who review at Angry Metal Guy, we were able to put together a good list of shit that was competing for the top position. While June is not as strong, there were still three records that tied for score and I, Angry Metal Guy, decided that a shared throne was necessary. So here it is, your Records o’ the Month!
90s Metal Weirdness: Fight – War Of Words
Cast your minds back to a time when metal music was not cool. Nay, indeed, a time when metal was anathema to all that was considered to be “chic” and “in.” A time when your favorite bands were actually encouraged by the music industry to play slower, cut their hair, and write sensitive lyrics about their childhoods. Yes, this unfortunately really happened.
Our new semi-irregular feature “90s Metal Weirdness” focuses on albums released between 1992 and 2001 and which we all probably would rather forget. But in the service of publicly shaming the musicians involved, we have pushed forward. — AMG

Record(s) o’ the Month – May 2012
As Angry Metal Guy, He Who Needs No Titles but Has Them Anyway, Angry Metal Emperor of Angry Metal Internetia, I take it upon myself to give a single recommendation of the best album that was released in a single month which I put up on the sidebar. However, May has been a particularly good month. So while I am going to recommend a single record and stick it on the sidebar, I believe that it is important that we actually tell you about four records that deserve your attention. So let me get to it.

Top Songs of 2012 Nominations as of May 12th, 2012
I have selected today—totally arbitrarily—to update you all on what I see as the tracks in the running for the best songs of 2012. Why today? Well, ’cause I’m looking at the list and I thought it would be a good post topic. So, here we are at this very point. If there are multiple songs from a single artists, it’s ’cause I can’t decide which of these is better—but the final list will not contain more than one song from any artist.
Angry Metal Guy Speaks: On Kickstarter Remaking the Music Industry
I’m a big fan of Kickstarter. I think that the idea of Kickstarter is truly fantastic; crowd-sourcing capital to avoid the big money parties that have traditionally exploited creators in the name of profit. Particularly in the era of increasingly bad things happening to record labels (and being perpetrated by them), due to their inability […]
