Orphaned Land have produced the video for the first track on their new album The Never Ending Way of ORWarriOR and it’s up on the interwebs! It’s actually pretty good, and I don’t really like videos that much.

Pain of Salvation in Melodifestivalen?
OK. So, my friend just updated his status on Facebook saying that, indeed, Pain of Salvation is going to be participating in Melodifestivalen, which Daniel Gildenlöw describes in detail in his blog post from the band’s website: After the flights back to Sweden we had less than 24 hours at home before taking off for […]
The Flow Chart O’ Heavy Metal Names
Angry Metal Girlfriend found this blog with a really very amusing flowchart of Heavy Metal band names. It was obvious to me from the getgo that this person was not, in fact, a real fan of metal because they missed the ever important Names Taken from Lord of the Rings section (see: Gorgoroth, Burzum, Amon Amarth, Amon Din, Crebain, Isengard and so on and so forth), but it is, in and of itself, a very excellent flowchart which demonstrates just how awesome metal naming conventions really are. Also, complete with inverted pentagram. (Cick the picture below to get it to open in a new tab/window.)
Enslaved Enters Studio
To unfortunate disagreement with some of my friends, I was a huge fan of Enslaved’s Vertebrae, a record I think may actually be their best ever. In any case, that means that I am waiting in avid anticipation for a new Enslaved record, which was announced to little fanfare on the band’s MySpace page yesterday […]
Lord of the Logos
Apparently Christophe Szpajdel has released a book that spans his career and the amazing logos that he’s produced. For those of you who don’t know, he’s the gentleman who has produced some of the most recognizable logos in metal and, specifically black metal, ever. He did Emperor, Old Man’s Child, Wolves in the Throne Room […]
Solsagan Video
Holy shit, Finntroll has posted a new video for the track “Solsagan” from their forthcoming record Nifelvind (which I will be reviewing soon!!) and it’s actually really good. There is so much potential for cheesiness with these guys but somehow they manage to avoid it these days. Win for Finntroll!
Umeå Rock City
There’s a new group up on Facebook called UmeÃ¥ Rock City which is totally fascinating for those of you who are into the history of metal or are fascinated by what your favorite musicians were doing before they were in the biggest and/or best Swedish heavy metal bands, or working on Drumkit from Hell, for […]
Jonah DOES rock…
So, this kid is 5 years old and while he’s not necessarily covering the best stuff in the world he’s pretty impressive. In fact, so impressive that I’d say he’s better than a couple of grown drummers that I’ve encountered in my days. Hopefully he’ll grow up to be awesome and un-jaded, despite being thrust […]
In Mourning Streaming new Album Online
Honestly, I don’t know how I missed this, but apparently In Mourning is streaming their new album online at this location. I encourage everyone to go and listen to it because it’s fucking awesome. Then go and buy it.
